Product Description

Reverberatory Furnace for Scrap Copper SmeltingA reverberatory furnace is a metallurgical furnace that directly heats materials with a flame to smelt metals. It consists of three main parts: a combustion chamber, a smelting chamber, and an exhaust flue (chimney). The entire furnace is a rectangular smelting chamber lined with refractory material. Reverberatory furnaces are simple in structure, require low investment, and can use a wide variety of fuels (such as coal, coal gas, heavy oil, etc.). They are important smelting equipment for non-ferrous metals such as copper, nickel, and tin, and are widely used for processing ores and concentrates, especially fine-grained powders; they can also smelt ferroalloys and are used for pyrometallurgical refining of metals. However, because the flame is in direct contact with the metal, the oxidation loss of the metal is significant. Reverberatory furnaces are commonly used as roasting equipment in metallurgy, chemical industry, and other fields.
Structure: A reverberatory furnace consists of a furnace base, furnace bottom, furnace walls, furnace top, charging port, product outlet, and flue. Its auxiliary equipment includes a charging device, a blower, an exhaust system, and a waste heat recovery system.
(1) Furnace Base: The furnace base is the foundation of the entire furnace, bearing the enormous load, and therefore requires a solid foundation. The furnace base can be made of concrete, slag, or stone, with concrete or reinforced concrete side walls on its perimeter. A channel is left at the bottom of the furnace base to accommodate bottom tie rods for reinforcing the furnace.
(2) Furnace Bottom: The furnace bottom is an important component of the reverberatory furnace. Due to its long-term exposure to high temperatures and the immense pressure of the molten metal, it is constantly subjected to molten metal erosion and chemical attack. Therefore, appropriate refractory materials must be selected for its construction, or a rammed sintered furnace bottom must be used to extend the furnace's service life. The furnace bottom must be solid, corrosion-resistant, and able to expand freely during heating.
(3) Furnace Walls: The furnace walls are directly built onto the furnace base. The furnace walls are subjected to the physicochemical effects of high-temperature molten metal and high-temperature furnace gases. Therefore, the inner layer of the reverberatory furnace walls is often constructed with magnesia bricks or magnesia-alumina bricks, while the outer layer is constructed with clay bricks. Some important parts are constructed with chrome-magnesia bricks. For metal melting furnaces with low melting points, such as aluminum reverberatory furnaces, both the inner and outer walls can be constructed using clay bricks.
(4) Furnace Roof: Reverberatory furnace roofs are structurally divided into brick arched roofs and suspended roofs. Periodically operating reverberatory furnaces and those with smaller furnace widths typically use brick arched roofs. Large copper smelting reverberatory furnaces mostly use suspended roofs.
(5) Product Discharge Port: Reverberatory furnace discharge ports come in three forms: perforated, grate-type, and siphon-type. Copper refining reverberatory furnaces use ordinary perforated copper discharge ports. The size of the perforation is generally 5-30mm, and its location can be in the middle of the rear wall, side wall, or at the bottom of the furnace at the rear. Tin smelting reverberatory furnaces use water-cooled perforated tin discharge ports, i.e., a cooling water jacket is embedded outside the brick wall at the ordinary brick perforated discharge port. Compared with the previous two types of product discharge ports, siphon-type product discharge ports have advantages such as convenient operation, safety, improved working conditions, and improved product quality.
