A reverberatory furnace is a metallurgical furnace that directly heats materials with a flame to smelt metals. It consists of three main parts: a combustion chamber, a smelting chamber, and an exhaust flue (chimney). The entire furnace is a rectangular smelting chamber lined with refractory material. Reverberatory furnaces are simple in structure, require low investment, and can use a wide variety of fuels (such as coal, coal gas, heavy oil, etc.). They are important smelting equipment for non-ferrous metals such as copper, nickel, and tin, and are widely used for processing ores and concentrates, especially fine-grained powders; they can also smelt ferroalloys and are used for pyrometallurgical refining of metals. However, because the flame is in direct contact with the metal, the oxidation loss of the metal is significant. Reverberatory furnaces are commonly used as roasting equipment in metallurgy, chemical industry, and other fields.
